Switch Boost™ Systems

Enhanced Power for
120V, 24V & 12V Switch Machines
A railway power switch requires and AC or DC power source that can
provide a high initial current to meet the in-rush/break-away current
demand of the switch or hydraulic motor. Our all-new and patent-pending
Switch Boost systems utilize one or two ultracapacitor or hybrid
ultracapacitor modules to provide enhanced power for 12V, 24V and 120V
railway power switches. These systems can dramatically improve the
performance, life and reliability of railway power switches compared to
battery-only systems.
Solar (PV) Power Systems

Prime & Backup Power
System Range: 50W-5kW
Solar (PV) is a proven source of DC power that converts
sunlight directly into electricity. Solar (PV) can be effective in
any environment that receives solar radiation, even in locations like
Alaska and Northern Canada when properly sized. Since 1982, we've
provided over a thousand reliable Solar (PV) Power Systems for a variety
of wayside rail power requirements and offer the industry's most
comprehensive mounting options including our RP Series Retractable Mast ensuring that we can meet virtually any
site requirement and/or budget.
Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

Extended-Run Backup Power
System Range: 250W-500W
An extended power outage from an ice storm, wind storm, hurricane or
other extreme event doesn't have to jeopardize your rail signaling and
communications operations. While battery back-up can provide hours
of protection, extended up-time isn't ensured unless rail signaling and
communication systems are proactively backed up with our propane or
natural gas powered Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). Since 2013,
we've commissioned hundreds of SOFCs for rail customers in the US &
Canada!

Our robust Battery Boxes are
designed to shield and protect battery systems located in harsh outdoor
environments. Constructed of all-welded aluminum (steel
constructon also available) and featuring fully insulated panels, these
battery boxes provide excellent protection for your batteries. We
offer several standard sizes and can provide custom sizes and a high
level of customization per customer requirements.
Stirling Engine Generators

Prime & Backup Power
System Range: 600W-5.6kW
PowerGen Stirling Engine Generators are a maintenance-free
alternative to diesel/gas generators for mid-to-high power wayside
requirements. Powered by propane or natural gas, the PowerGen is
capable of providing prime and backup power to critical applications.
Compared to other power generating technologies, the PowerGen requires
no routine maintenance or oil changes, has no start/stop cycle
limitations and is conservatively estimated to provide 60,000+ hours of
service!
